Citizens Committee Grows and Changes

The PPP Citizens Committee has undergone a number of changes since its inception in May of 2011. The Committee lost one of its original members with the untimely passing of Skip Jackson in early September. Skip was enthusiastic about the Citizens Committee and his opportunity, through the Committee, to help the Piqua community improve and grow. We will miss him.

Larry Hamilton, another original member of the Citizens Committee, resigned from the Committee in November. Larry was a faithful participant in Committee activities and his enthusiasm will be missed.

The Citizens Committee welcomed three new members in October: Wayde Davis, Jeanie Jordan-Bates, and Cindy Pearson. Wayde, Jeanie and Cindy immediately became involved in the work of the sub-committees that do much of the heavy lifting for PPP. We welcome them to this new role with our organization and look forward to working with them in the days and months to come.

In November, Craig Barhorst assumed the role of Chair of the Citizens Committee and Wayde Davis stepped up to serve as Vice Chair. See the article on the Home page for details on this important step in PPP's development.

Positively Promoting Piqua and Grow Piqua Now -- a Mutuality of Interest

Positively Promoting Piqua's mission is "to help Piqua improve and grow as an outstanding community in which to live and work." Click the "About Us" button in the panel on the left side of any page of this site for details as to who we are and what we believe.

PPP recognizes that there are many aspects to a great community, including clean, safe and attractive neighborhoods; diverse and well supported public amenities; and a strong culture of positive and constructive civic participation. But all of these are in turn dependent on Piqua's economic growth and vitality. Economic development is key to the many things that will help Piqua be a great community.

Grow Piqua Now is a strong advocate and instrument for economic development in Piqua. A private-public partnership formed in 2006, GPN deals professionally and continuously with the realities of economic growth and promoting Piqua as a great place to do business. To learn more about Grow Piqua Now -- what it is, who is part of it, what it's doing to help our community grow, and how you can help -- we encourage you to visit GPN's web site: growpiquanow.org.
